In the Tableau Server 2018.2 server, TSM will be the overall administrator tool to install and configure the Tableau Consultant in ​Saudi Arabia server on Windows and Linux platforms. In 2018.2, both Windows and Linux will deal with all nodes in a group as peers. For highly configurable configurations, TSM distributed architecture eliminates the need for a primary backup device. If the initial node fails with the License Server service, the License Server service can be moved to the peer node instead of the failover to Primary Backup.


Downtime less associated with upgrades

TSM introduces a new way to upgrade the Tableau server. You can run the new TSM installation tool to place the bits on the Tableau Consultant in ​SaudiArabia server nodes early while running the Tableau server. Then, when you're ready to continue upgrading, you can only run the upgrade script to complete the upgrade; this is the only part of the upgrade process that requires downtime. In one of our five internal nodes, the upgrade can now be completed using 75 minutes of downtime in about 15 minutes using TSM.
